McGrath Defies Stop Work Order

Citizens Voice Outrage to Town Supervisors

Village residents were shocked when on Friday April 30, in open defiance of a stop work order issued by the Township, construction equipment began knocking down trees on the old Bastion property in the heart of Washington Crossing.  Before code enforcement officers could arrive on the scene portions of the woodland had been cleared to within 10 feet of the Delaware Canal .  Town ordinance requires a 60-foot buffer.  Two enforcement actions were issued against McGrath Homes as a result of this latest violation.  Officials at McGrath Homes did not return our request for comment.

Angry citizens expressed their indignation at the Board of Supervisors meeting on May 5, where eyewitness reports and photographs were presented.  As stated by one person, “through his actions, the developer displayed a blatant disregard for township regulations and his total lack of respect for the residents of Upper Makefield ”.
