What Local People Are Saying

"The Revolutionary Ridge development just doesn't belong here."

- Jack Kennedy, Past-President, Upper Makefield Historical Society

"View shed and watershed preservation was first advocated in Pennsylvania by Dr. Benjamin Franklin, then promoted throughout America by President Roosevelt and John Muir.  Upper Makefield residents kept up that advocacy in 2000 by voting for the largest Open Space Bond in Pennsylvania history.  Before that we preserved the view shed and watershed adjacent to our two State Parks with the acquisition of 20+ wooded acres slated to become a shopping center.  Ground and surface water in the township is part of a natural but fragile infrastructure.  Preservation is not stagnation.   Change is constant and will always be with us; however, we can control the rate and kinds of change.  Speak up! contact your elected officials, neighbors, and friends -- let them know your point of view.  If not for yourself, think of your neighbors and future generations."

- Marc Michael Zaharchuk, Past member, Upper Makefield Township Canal Committee; Member, Friends of the Delaware State Canal; Treasurer, Washington Crossing Preservation Foundation

"Development of Revolutionary Ridge would cut across the soul of Upper Makefield."

- Colleen Christian, Former Supervisor, Upper Makefield Township

"Our family just moved here from Southern California.  We've seen what happens when development is valued over all else.  The quality of life that attracted people to that place in the beginning is completely lost.  We selected this area because it was clear to us that people value a semi-rural, small-town environment and lifestyle.  I think the people of this town, like their predecessors, will fight to preserve their children's cultural and historical heritage."

- Dr. Richard B. Carter, Co-Founder, AlgoRx Pharmaceuticals
